Daniel Radcliffe, ever busy, will star in the upcoming romantic comedy "The F Word" with Zoe Kazan. The movie begins filming on August 15 in Toronto, said Variety.
After eight "Harry Potter" films and a handful of dark indies, Daniel Radcliffe is ready to tackle a new chapter of his career: the romantic comedy. Radcliffe and "Ruby Sparks" star Zoe Kazan are set to topline "The F Word," an indie pic from No Trace Camping whose title refers to the dreaded "friend" zone.
"Goon" helmer Michael Dowse is set to direct from a script by Elan Mastai ("The Samaritan") that appeared on the 2008 Black List.
Comedic tale finds Radcliffe venturing to be the first male to have a successfully platonic relationship with a girl he likes (Kazan), only to find out she's already in a relationship.
David Gross and Jesse Shapira of No Trace Camping ("Goon") will produce along with Marc Stephenson and Hartley Gorenstein. Dowse and Jeff Arkuss will exec produce with NHO Entertainment's Mark Costa and Ford Oelman.
Pic is based on the play "Toothpaste and Cigars" by T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi. Production starts Aug. 15 in Toronto, and additional casting is under way.

Variety announced that Daniel Radcliffe's next film project will be the supernatural fantasy/thriller "Horns."
Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star in supernatural fantasy/thriller "Horns."
Pic will be financed by Red Granite Pictures. Red Granite will co-produce the film with Mandalay Pictures.
Based on the novel by Joe Hill, "Horns" is being directed by Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes," "Piranha 3D").
"Horns" has been adapted by Keith Bunin ("In Treatment").
Producers are Red Granite's Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland, Mandalay Pictures president Cathy Schulman and Adam Stone. Joe Hill and Red Granite's Joe Gatta are executive producers.
Radcliffe will portray the number one suspect for the rape and murder of his girlfriend. He awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their impulses -- an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend's tragedy.
Shooting is slated to begin this fall. Red Granite Pictures' international sales arm will handle foreign sales.
"After reading Joe Hill's cult book, I couldn't resist temptation to dive into the devilish underworld and reinvent a universal myth," Aja said.
